Tomorrow marks the birthday of this place. I think the majority of us came here during that year. The year of Wild Arms and Final Fantasy 7.

Holy fuck. We're old.

Can we expect a post from SineSwiper?????

Maybe Crono, Kupek, Esque, Garford, Tessian, Deritian, etc. will grace us with a visit. Lol, I'm sure they've been keeping it on their calendars.

I still have some "mind space" to remember this place... good lord it's like stepping out of a time machine.

Wouldn't be here if Shrin hadn't mentioned this to me, figured I'd say hi. Nice to see you guys missed me :)

Sine, Tess, & Lox posting? It's like I'm looking at the Shrine circa ten years ago. Good to see you guys.

I couldn't pass up this momentous occasion. :) I still lurk from time to time, so I'm less disconnected than it'd seem.

When people disappear, the general assumption is that they're locked up in Ishamael's basement. That also explains his own absence given he is likely quite busy these days.

Anyway, do we have that old Schala picture anywhere?

20 years ago, Bill Nye was explaining chromosomes / gender to me. Now, Bill Nye is hosting some sort of pedophilic Netflix kids show explaining how buttstew is cool and gender is arbitrary.

The world is getting pretty fucked up....at least this place stays the same.

What the literal fuck did I just watch? I mean the song was kind of funny in a Bloodhound Gang kind of way. Is that intended for kids?

You watched what qualifies for "Science" for progressives in 2017. March for science, bro/broette/xe/zu.

I watched a few episodes - it covers "science" at a very grade school level, so I think it for kids/teens (Nye often refers to the audience as kids -- "Up next kids..."). Whatever your political leanings, have some sympathy for the half of the country that voted Trump because they see stuff like this and think..."WTF is going on with this country and fact-free progressivism?!".

Anyway, to cleanse my palate, I started watching the new Cosmos again last night.

Just think, most of the kids born the year the Shrine was started graduated high school a year or two ago.

Next year, most of them will be old enough to drink (in the US at least). Next year the Shrine will be old enough to drink. Speaking of Schala, she's going to get wasted with the two planets on her 21st.

The Canadian wing of the Shrine has been drinking for two years :P

Kali, watching Cosmos? Don't let your alt-fact friends find out, they'll burn you at the stake.

Wait what?!? I have friends?! Let me know what alt-facts they are believing and I'll set those suckers straight! Is it that their "sex-junk is so much more than either or-or-or"?

PS - 18 should be the universal age for everything -- sex, voting, drinking, renting cars, contracts, prison etc.

sex at 18? :( 16 year old me and 17 year old girlfriend me had would have been upset at this.

Pfft...you know what I meant. Age of consent and all that. Underage kids can diddle each other all they want - I would never want to rob kids of awkward first times on school camping trips or whatever.

...if only I was taught about Lube as a kid....my first time would have been much less cringe.

She's a comedic performer so it's not really supposed to be taken as seriously as some people are, but her show has comedic musical routines where she sings about things like period sex, so, yeah I like her but that was hard to watch. Nye's show's clearly just a left wing platform and it's really not any worse than the nonstop cavalcade of bullshit kids are exposed to when parents let Youtube be their main source of passing time.

Based on what I've seen even the left/moderates aren't really fans of his show. The most rational thing I've seen is "I guess it isn't for us?" meaning not for 25+ year old people who grew up with him, but I certainly wouldn't suggest my possible future kid watch this show lol

See, I take issue with this...you are making excuses.

1. Her "skit" was on a supposed science show. Dont pretend it wasN'T intended to be taken seriously on message.

2. Listen to Nye after. Something like "that is exactly the right message".

Actually, what I like best is Nyes treating the sexes different after...the awkward handshake to the guy. Filthy Misogynist Lol.

She's a comedian - there's a fairly obvious tongue-in-cheek nature to the song even if the message is meant to be positive and real. It's entertainment not a documentary. If he wanted to send a 100% serious message with a song that wasn't filled with jokes he could have chosen from any number of actual musical performers.

He's billed as the "science guy" and "entertainer." The message is supposed to be pointed but it isn't meant to be a 100% information based show. I mean... the message can be positive, but people still generally seem to hate the show no matter what their position is. So I'm not really interested in defending it further - getting context by watching the actual show and developing actual opinions based on something real is something I'm doubting either of us want to do when it comes to watching this. It's just more outrage culture bullshit just on the other side of the fence.

My side of the fence is decidely less cringey and insane. That video is only funny if it were a parody of progressive nonsense. It isnt. And you shouldnt have to make excuses or pretend it is something it is not.

My side of the fence also has less mexicans and rapists.

...err, what?

I randomly stumbled across and recognized Barret/imakeholesinu on reddit. He was bashing Trump on that shithole r/politics -- freaking out about Russians or something. I told him to stop by.

It was almost as odd as when I stumbled across Gman.

You know...I've been trying to log in here for the last two years? I had an account Joe which I tried to log into and have the password reset but that wasn't working.

Anyway.....GmanJoe here.

I have evolved from conservative firebrand to liberal....well, more like Left of Center. I'm still not that PC like my old self when I posted here 20 years ago. I hate Trump with a passion.

Fuck I'm old. You know how far back I have to scroll when I have to register my age? Fuck you Zeus. I look younger than you at least.

Haha, you have no need to apologize. It's the Internet! =)
I'd be a hypocrite if I pretended I wasn't an absolute giant douche/asshole as well.

To put it in simple terms: Internet = unrealistic passion on opinions + Jerkiness + no social consequences = fun for most people.

But I think the trolling era at the Shrine has been done for years now. Other than the thing between Kali and Mental a few years back, we've been largely civil human beings to one another. The side-effect is we post about 20% as much as we used to, and activity seems to come and go in waves, we'll have 2 active months, then 4 inactive months.

Good to see you back!

Awww... That makes me sad -- I could've used a fellow Trump supporter to spur some political discussion here.

How does that happen anyway? You are supposed to get more Right as you get older; not the other way around.

Trump Tax cuts, Obamacare gutting, looming peace in NK, balancing the supreme court...if he just got that wall built, 2020 is a lock. Meanwhile the left is led by a porn star, a few inarticulate Parkland highschoolers, BLM and an old lady that pretended to be Indian for benefits.

Hey now, I actually liked Mental and advocated against banning him! Sure, I called him out on his racism, conspiracy theories and hatred of all of us...but I'm not sure that's "trolling"...is it?
