Playing God of War 3. It's pretty darn challenging on Titan mode. I'm at a point that makes me want to smash my controller soooo much.

Never been much of a controller smasher. One of the best days of my life to this day is when my roommate freshman year at Virginia Tech (dorm, one room, months of this bullshit) who would just curse and curse and curse (loudly) and throw down his controller. One day it broke. It still makes me smile.

I hate to admit the number of controllers I've busted in my life. I'm talking back to SNES days. haha Granted, it was harder then because I couldn't throw with as much power, but I managed. I have learned to control it in the last few years for a few reasons. One being that I just need to practice patience. The second being that controllers are too freaking expensive now. :)

Burnt out with FFXIII, I've started up Devil Summoner 2 again. And it is awesome. Also still chugging along on SOTN and Shadow Complex, though I could beat the latter really quickly--I just wanna get 100% and some of the last powerups are a biiiiitch.

Yeah, I can certainly see how you can easily get burned out with FF13. I just hit Gran Pulse so it's opened up a bit (I hope). But it was really a chore up to that point.

Some of the powerups in Shadow Complex aren't just bitchy, they near impossible even with the full map showing you where they are unless you a) get a bit lucky (and everyone does just randomly run into some very hard-to-find one) or b) use a FAQ. There was one in particular that was INSANE. It didn't even appear on the map 'cause it was in the same room as another you've already found.

I just got the Konami Classics Collection and I popped SotN in. Man, that game hasn't aged overly well.....

Still playing FF13. After about 20 hours of Gran Pulse and getting the Growth Egg, I think I'm actually going to go for the gold and beat the game. Probably the first JRPG in a LOOONG time where I'm actually gunning to get all of the items, bosses, etc.
Zeus wrote:I just got the Konami Classics Collection and I popped SotN in. Man, that game hasn't aged overly well.....
But the music and gameplay is still fucking sweet! Hell, I still have a hard time finding good music like that. FF13's song are not bad, but they repeat too much, so I get bored with them. Odin Sphere (and Okami) was probably the last game where I was overly impressed with the soundtrack.

Yeah, the music in SotN is still pretty awesome. And the voice acting is hilarious. The gameplay is actually a bit slow I found, particularly after playing the Rondo remake on the PSP. I'm not complaining, really, just making an observation. I just have to get used to it again.

FF13's music is putrid. I mean really, really bad. 90% of the time it's the same two stupid songs over and over again and the other 10% of the time (like Sazh's theme) it's like techno-porn music. Of all the faults in the game, the music is the worst, easy. The characters come a close second.

So when i unlocked the SotN game from Rondo of Blood on the PSP i switched gears and played SotN until i beat it again then went and finished Rondo. Being in a game kick i realized i hadnt finished God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PSP and so i beat that, too (i originally didnt realize how close to the end i was i guess). Since i still dont have a next gen system, i'm on the hunt for a new and awesome PSP game, but the crap thats on the PSN hasnt enticed me yet. In the mean time i'm playing Downstream Panic.

On the laptop, i also just beat a bunch of rando indie games like a replay of Braid, Machinarium, and Samorost.

Its about time, i need a PS3 or 360 soon... The thought of completing games 100% like i used to is still laughable, but not being able to play FF13 is def killing me. Although, i can be ok with that if i just do it and pull the trigger and buy a new gaming computer to play SC2/Diablo 3 on. I like that idea better, fuck consoles! :)

Sazh's theme is so techno-porn it's nuts!

As far as my gaming over the last few months, I beat Bioshock 2, all three God of War games (just beat #2 tonight), Halo 3 ODST, Shadow Complex, 5 hours into Bowser's Inside Story, and have put about 27 hours into FF13 as of last night. That's a lot of gaming recently for me, I haven't gamed like that since university. Guess having a cushy gov't job will do that for ya :-)

I have a bunch of games sitting for the moment; the obvious two I'll get back to are FF13 and FF7. Currently I'm only playing three games: Ogre Battle 64 (I am a fairly large distance in, probably 5-6 stages until the end) and Monster Hunter Tri which is taking up a lot more time than I planned. I am dabbling in Devil Survivor still on DS (which is incredibly hard). Once in a while I play the old Nintendo/Maxis Sim City game during supper, which is of the type of game I would like to see more of (you create something, an watch how it exists and grows).

Playing only Monster Hunter Tri and Ogre Battle 64 seriously at the moment, but I have picked up the following games at least once inthe past 2 weeks:
Mario 3
New Super Mario Brothers Wii
Symphony of the Night
Super Castlevania
Donkey Kong Country 3
Uncharted Waters 2: New Horizons
Final Fantasy 13
Sim Earth (TG16)
Sim City (SNES)

Other than working on that I am playing a lot of Game Room, as well as Mosnter Hunter Tri, Mod Nation racers, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Record of Agarest war on consoles, and Dragon Quest V, Alpha Bounce and Little Big Planet PSP on my handhelds

Monster Hunter Tri and Mario Galaxy 2. Everything else is on hol for a while. I am playing The World Ends with you on DSi XL. Works very well, I may actually keep this when 3DS is out. I am in the middle of moving across town, so not much time for games.

I cant say that I would agree with that. I am really REALLY enjoying it. There are a lot of factors in the combat system that I enjoy, its got some dating sim aspects that will actually determine the starting stats of your protagonist from generation to generation, and a turn system where if you dont get to diffrent points by a specific turn you miss extra events. Its got a item crafting system that seems fairly robust so far, and a bunch of extra titles you can earn by fuffilling diffrent things in the game. Graphicly its nothing special, in fact they are fairly bland in battles, but the character illustrations durring story sequences are awesome. Oh and it has nothing to do really with what is on the box 8^P

The game play is fine most of the time. People just gotta bitch if it isn't consistently perfect. I just wish they'd been given the proper resources to make it better. I think Chris Avellone is doomed to getting dicked over by the man.

I think a lot of the complaints stem from people picking the recruit class and not being able to figure out that that means you're going to be totally useless and shitty for the first part of the game until you get some levels under your belt. It's a shooter RPG, if you don't have skill points in a gun you're going to be missing the broad side of a barn.

The AI is dumb as rocks. I've watched them shoot in the air, lose me around the corner and rush me with that stupid deke from a mile away. 99% of the game is doable with any weapon, the problem is the couple of boss fights (that more or less require an assault rifle over normal). Stealth+melee is overpowered everywhere else (thanks to the stupid AI again). Gameplay gets repetative, graphics are poor, item/skill upgrading is shallow.

The story is OK and it's delivered pretty well, but it is nothing ground breaking. The choice system is overblown, as its basically a handful of kill/spare, like/dislike, save someone/complete mission that don't amount to anything changing too drastically. The voice acting is great though and the fact that you can be raped by a women is worth the rental alone.

There's "Dumb AI" where they leave a few holes in their defense that you can take advantage of, and then there's "Dumb AI" where you can effortlessly walk up to somebody and stab them in the face over and over and over.

I never had any moments where the AI was quite that dim. There were certainly plenty of moments where I could have been flanked SO EASILY and instead they chose to keep poking their heads out at the one side of THREE (ugh) that I had covered. Seriously should have died...

Right now:

1. Dragon Quest 9 - WAY into this game right now.

2. Super Mario Galaxy (very limited play now that I have DQ; as great as the game gets, DQ is much more my type of game than just about any game I can currently think of).

3. Super Mario Brothers 3 - working on a full playthrough, I have cleared ALL of the levels up to the third last level in Pipe World (World 7); note the second last level is extremely short and easy in comparison to this one, so this one is more or less like the real second last level. It is killing me off! I have lost a good 35+ lives here. This level is a mini-castle, that most people skip over with the cloud, but I have made it through to the end, only to die of nerves on that end boss (who is actually easy). This level is more difficult than the following Airship level. Then it is on to World 8 and victory (I hope)! I am down to about 60 lives from the 99 I got from the first mini-castle in World 7, but I have many Tanuki and Hammer Bros suits, along with various other power-ups.

4. New Super Mario Brothers Wii - I play this one to feel better about myself after playing Super Mario 3. While this one is the most challenging since Mario 3... It isn't Mario Brothers 3.

1) World of Warcraft - I pretty much just log on for my guild's raid nights right now. Working on Icecrown Citadel 25 heroics (although I still need my regular Lick King Kill) and Ruby Sanctum 25 (Halion is on farm status at this point).

2) Modern Warfare 2 (X360) - Multiplayer Team Deathmatch. Probably going back to the campaign to finish achievements and Special Ops stuff.

3) Starcraft II - Starting tomorrow (7/27/2010) when I pick up my copy. Probably just the single player campaign till I finish it. Possibly multiplayer depending on how bad I embarrass myself.

Edit:
4) NCAA Football 11 - I should have put this on here the first time. Playing Road to Glory right now.

5) Alien Swarm - Playing with some friends and co-workers.

Ditto. Just updated my video drivers, and already installed the game.

Also, I'm still playing Magic on the X360. Still a fun game after many many hours of playing it, and Shellie is having fun with the Two-Headed Giant games.

If I'm on the 360, I'm usually playing Magic hehe

Well you can start out through the single player campaign and learn how to play. Early on it's pretty basic creatures vs creatures, and slowly goes into slightly more involved decks. It's much easier than actually playing the card game since you don't make our own decks. They are pre-built decks you choose from.

Playing DQ9 right now. Have also been playing Shadowrun for the SNES, as I've been meaning to beat that game for years.

Might pick up SC2, might not. RTS games take a lot of involvement, and I really don't want a game to suck me in too bad during the summer months.

Heh, SNES Shadowrun was an awesome game. I finished that one a decade after I bought it.... Funny story about how I came to buying it.

I was a HUGE fan of Seatle Grunge music at the time, and I saw this one taking place there. It started with a rental, I got fed up with it! I didn't like the gameplay style at all, and how it was so unclear with what to do next. I took it back that day!

....Then I had a dream about the game. This inspired me to write a story about drug runners in a post apocalyptic urban center.

So I ended up changing my mind about the game and bought it. It turned out to be one of my favourite hybrid-Adventure/RPG titles.

Beat DQ9, but doing the post-ending content.... very ...... slowly.

Re-activated Warhammer Online (10 day free trial). Found out my Ironbreaker has like 15,000 gold from when I was ahead of the game in talisman crafting a few months after release. Apparently it's worth like $400 US if I sell it :p

Still haven't given in to the SC2 urge.

Still waiting for the next game to come along. And before you start spouting your flavour-of-the-day suggestions, I rarely pick up more than one game at a time, so I'm VERY picky. RPGs always have a better chance at getting my attention.
