Das Last of Us

You may like this game if:
-You liked the Uncharted series' blend of well-acted cutscenes and shootin/stealthin gameplay (this is their best yet)
-You like crafting shivs and stabbing things with said shivs
-You have emotions
-You like giraffes
-You lament the supposed death of the 'survival horror' "genre"

You may not like this game if:
-You're a pacifist
-You're afraid of zombies/mold
-You demand a non-linear experience in your action/adventure titles
-You don't like conserving ammunition

Having said all that, I loved it. Best thing I've played so far this year (and may play a second time, which I usually don't with this kind of title).

I avoided most of the media coverage on this one and was glad I did so. All I really knew was that you played a dude escorting a girl in a sort of post-pandemic, mold-creature infested America. There were many surprises, BUT! there were just as many predictable plot points that come with the proliferation of zombie games/movies/shows/comics.

I chose to play on Hard mode and was punished many, many times being clumsy in combat encounter; however, I would recommend doing this for anybody here, as each encounter forces you to learn and adapt to different situations. You can stealth your way out of almost every situation, either making silent kills or no kills at all. There are some straight-up firefights where your previous reliance on stealth kills really pay off since ammo is VERY LIMITED. Sometimes enemies drop ammo, sometimes they don't. Luckily, this game isn't like Uncharted where some human enemies can soak up half a clip in damage; they generally die in four bullets or less.

There's a crafting system for items (medkits, shivs, molotovs, etc) and all the guns are upgradable. You don't get enough 'parts' to upgrade everything, so stick with three or four main weapons... though you'll still have to use every weapon in your arsenal since ammo is so limited.

I played a bit of multiplayer and it's fun, but nothing I could get caught up in for the long run (nor do I think it would appeal to any of us here). Basic class-based team deathmatch with unlockable this and that and the crafting system from the single-player.

I could go on, but there are no shortage of reviews out there if you REALLY needed to be sold on a Naughty Dog game that's getting a shit ton of marketing.

Five cupcakes.

Honestly, this game reminds me alot of Manhunt of all things, gameplay-wise at least. x_x

EB has a $1 a day on this gone. I'm gonna pick it up on Wednesday, play the piss out of it, and trade it back in on Sunday. It'll cost me $4 that way. When I'm in Buffalo for Black Friday, I'll pick it back up for $20

Just got to the dome, about 3 to 3.5 hours in. Got bored and put it down. Gonna trade it in tomorrow.

Uncharted is better. At least it only cost me $2 to play it

Except in Pinball FX 2. You only have me beat in Buccaneer right now, I got the top score for the others we both own. Soon it'll be all :-)
