Steam Summer Sale 2013

Actually crashed the steam store at the beginning of it lol
Steam trading cards are a gimmick.. that I'm kind of into. I've managed to sell high and buy low so far to create one badge. The sale actually opened with Bioshock Infinite. And with Defiance at below $15 I'm probably going to pick that up.

Cool. Grabbed a couple of indie games: FTL and Antichamber.
Bioshock Infinite at $30. I'd still like to buy this for my dad, but I wish the gifting mechanism would allow me to hold on to it for a while.

Inc Zeus to talk about how he's gotten all the games cheaper used and physical and has promptly sold them back for a .40 profit! ;p

I was able to throw a gift purchase into my inventory for later giftery. Mayhaps you should check that out.

The way you wrote that can be a little confusing. That's a 40% profit. Yes, technically .40 = 40%, but it could easily be confused with $0.40 in that format, which would just be wrong :-)

I'm picking up Fez for $5 before the daily sale expires.
FTL for $2.50 is a great value. There's a lot more going on in that game then the store page makes it seem. It's the best "I'll play that game for ten minutes" and you end up playing it for four hours game that's come out for a while.

System Shock 2 for $2.50. Only 3 hours left. Also:
Fez
FTL
Borderlands 2 for only $10!

Fallout: New Vegas for $2.50? That's insane, even if it is 3 years old.
SS2 is still $5 now. Portal 2 for $5. Or both Portal 1/2 for $6.24.

I got my first foil (rare) card and it's a summer sale card.. I wonder if I should sell it now for ~$1.50 or save it until after the sale in the hope that scarcity will drive up the price.

Just got done playing The Swapper and I probably would have just kept playing if I didn't have something to do right now. Very cool, atmospheric game. Definitely my favorite out of the games I've picked up so far during the sale (Defiance, Trine, Trine 2, Swapper, Fez, Surgeon Simulator).
I just got my fourth fucking Torchlight 2 summer card making the badge for The Swapper.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $3. Yes, this is crazy, and yes, you should buy it.

Picked up Gunpoint during a flash sale and it's probably the second best game I've gotten after The Swapper.

Haha I got a personalized blog entry for how I finished Gunpoint
http://www.pentadact.com/category/conwa ... &C4=3&C5=3
Also got one of my favorite achievements for pushing in the line about killing more people than I avenged "Acknowledged Ludonarrative Dissonance - Notice the story doesn't necessarily gel with the mechanics. Become qualified games journalist"

Bought Fallen Enchantress because it says Shrinwreck has it too and that was a waste of money. I figure it looks like Master of Magic so it can't be that bad. Unfortunately 'looks like' is about the only thing it had in common. I really don't get what's with American strategy game where it takes several seconds after you click on something before it even responds to you. Half of my time in Civ 5 is probably waiting for the AI to process, even when the only AIs left are city-state which you think ought to be triival (they can't really research anything, they can't expand, they don't have to pay maintenance on anything and they have no diplomancy). I mean, the game might even be good (though it doesn't really look like it) but I just can't get past the fact that the game seems to stutter after every action I do, presumably because it's busy rendering the battlefield or whatever. I can also see that Civ 5 where the game literally slows down when it goes over a tile that used to be a barbarian camp because apparently drawing that on top of the current terrain costs mega graphics power.

My list:
Anno 2070
TW: Shogun 2
TW: Empire
TW: Medieval 2 - I already had it, but I lost track of it lending it out years ago.
Remaining Civ 5 DLC I didn't have - all 3 bucks of it.
Evoland
Europa Universalis 3
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Tropico 4
And that's all the new PC gaming I'll need for the next 2 years
Although I have been playing a lot of Civ 5: BNW and Scrolls lately. With the new Civ 5 expansion, the game has become exactly what it was meant to be, but with a lot of extra civilizations.

Doh.. I got mine for free. The stuttering thing shouldn't be happening though. That isn't happening for me. You'd have probably liked Reus more.

Basically anything that isn't instantaneously responsive in a strategy game is too slow because you spent a very long time playing it and it adds up if each time you click is delayed by a second. I think like 1/3 of my time in Civ 5 is just waiting for the end turn to click and the fact it's loading up each player's turn even if you set the screen to stick figure mode.

That's good to know. I was waiting for the price to drop and ended up buying it sans sale. Haven't played it yet.
