MOH hires CISCO to enforce SARS home quarantine

By Bridgette See

The Health Ministry has hired security firm CISCO to serve home quarantine orders and ensure people comply with the orders, put in place to control the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

CISCO officers will place electronic cameras at the homes of those under quarantine.

These people will then be called at random intervals and asked to stand in front of the camera to show they are home.

Anyone found breaking quarantine will be served a warning letter and given an electronic wrist tag.

This tag is linked to a dedicated phone line and will alert CISCO if the person leaves the house or tries to break the tag.

The Health Ministry is resorting to this after a few incidents in which people under home quarantine flouted the order.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Considering the highly infectious nature of SARS, that schools was closed down for 2 weeks to contain SARS and a bunch of goons still disobey the order quarantine and run around putting others at risk, what our government is doing is not that bad.</div>
