I was there on that fateful day, were you?

And that's what I mean. I've been a big supporter of modern dubs, but Naruto's was really taking a step backwards. Some of the voices work, but the ones that don't are just grating (including/especially Naruto).
SineSwiper wrote:I believe I was staying on topic, since the topics are Naruto, fansubs, Viz, and DB.We're talking about fansubbing, not dubbing, and the first time I read this I assumed you were talking about dubbing in general, not just Naruto. As I mentioned, "kidifying" anime is a totally different story; it's not poor dubbing, it's a poor decision to retool a story to an audience it wasn't written for. The end result may be the same, but it's a very different issue to address.
SineSwiper wrote:Just because you try to take a show that was designed for Japanese 10yo kids, and make it into something for American 10yo kids, doesn't mean they get to slack off on the dubbing. They DIDN'T slack off, they did it on purpose! They dumbed down the plots and "adjusted" the slang/grammar. It's not poor dubbing, it's intentional dumbing down of the show because Japanese 10 year olds aren't the same as American 10 year olds.

This is great and all, but some people don't want to watch them right away. From what that article (with the Kupek nightmare link) says, it seems like they'll be available for a week and then switch over to the next episode. I didn't see anything regarding archived episodes so I'm not sure

But I still wanna download them regardless. I watch this stuff on my TV through my 360 and also like to occasionally go back to them. So I'll be looking for another source to download even if I watch them weekly on the official site.
