Now that movie shocked me

Take the Transformers movies, and all of the stupid shit that's in them that makes you cringe or roll your eyes but remember you're tolerating it because holy shit, the Transformers are in it. Now remove the Transformers, and you have Battleship.
Same idiotic cringe worthy characters and movie cliches amplified 10x, but then you don't have the Transformers to keep you from killing yourself while you watch it. The CGI special effects are almost identical to something you'd see in the Transformers movies.
Battleship = Transformers without the Transformers.

What about how they transferred the board to the buoy targeting system? That didn't at the very least seem clever to you? Or the peg-bombs utilized by the alien race? I mean, can you think of a better way to move the board game onto the big-screen?
