I know I'm several years late to this party, but holy shit. Anyone trolling Netflix for watchables should hop on this while it's still available there.

Benedict Cumberbatch is FLAWLESS in this. It immediately rocketed as soon as I saw it to the top of my favorite sci-fi movies list of all time by far except for the original Star Wars, and possibly Contact.

Probably every bit as good as the original Wrath of Khan - I haven't seen the original, but there is nothing bad at all about ST: ID in any way, I don't see how the original could be better!

The movie is full of plot holes. I liked it fine, but I found the holes distracting...the first reboot movie was excellent however, despite the weak villan.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan was great, but they really butchered the ending, like the ending was so distracting it kind of ruined the rest of the movie.

I didn't find much to criticize with it, but perhaps I was just too entranced with Cumberbatch's performance. I can't believe people gave him hell over it because they thought Khan should have been explicitly hired as a Hindi or another Middle Asian.

Yeah, we all know Hollywood has diversity issues, but the idea of Khan as ethnically descended from a British Indian white descendant of the Raj or similar is just as plausible as his original origin - and the original Khan, Ricardo Montelban, was Mexican, for God's sake. And Cumberbatch killed the role. Just KILLED it.

I also loved the change in the story that was made by deciding to have Khan as a lone wolf, with his crew still frozen. It made the pain of the character really palpable, turned him into a character you can't help but feel for even as you know how evil he is.
